    Connery and Craig are the only two that resemble the semi-cultured thug in a dinner jacket that Fleming described. Moore was nowhere near and Dalton / Bronson just never convinced. The one-off Lazenby came close, but flushed it down the toilet in the end.

    Daniel Craig is the best Bond he brings an intensity to the role.
    Roger Moore made it a comedy Pierce Brosnon was grooming for the replacment of moore in his Remington Steele role.

    I've been reading them when I can find them at second hand book stores. And its funny you say the books are so much better, as I am over halfway through "The Spy Who Loved Me" and Bond hasn't even showed up yet. WTF?

    Of course if you listen to Craig do interviews about the role, he had wanted to go back to the Roger Moore kind of silly/kind of violent after the cold brutality of Dalton, but after Austin Powers was in the theaters he felt that they needed to take a more serious tone.

    if Craig had gone "Roger Mooreish" he would have been a flop. I did like Pierce Brosnon in his role as Remington Steele on tv , but thats where that kind of show belongs. I knew from the start that his Remington Steele show was imitation RM Bond.
