    I'm not sure if this is the right spot to ask this question, if not, my bad.
    Bike: 1981 Yamaha Xj550RH
    I am looking for the O-rings that go on the Idle mixture screws, the Yamaha parts manual I have doesn't list them, Ebay isn't much help and Google is just as helpful, My carbs are missing 2 of the 4 o rings and I believe this is the last part that will actually fix this ill-running bike. If anyone can give me a lead on where to find these O-rings I would be greatly appreciative.
    Thanks
    John

    His part number will be HCP895 for the teensy-weensy o-ring. Do you have the teensy-weensy spring seat washers as well? If not, his part number for those is HCP896.

    Hi John;

    Some things that might help with your struggle:

    Exploded Mikuni: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=31061.html

    Valve clearances: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=14827.html
    and Part Deux: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=29209.html

    And your bike is not an "H" it's a "J." Although it probably was manufactured in 1981, it's an '82 model. The black fork lowers and black valve cover give it away.

    Truth be told, I know that bike. It used to belong to a forum member, ProtoMillenium, back in '09 or so. There are some of my parts on it.

    It's going to need more than just be made to run right.

    Check this RIGHT away: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=15874.html

    And this was something that was obviously overlooked: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=41400.html

    Not to speak ill of anyone, but the PO was a bit of a hack. Expect more surprises.

    Thanks for the info.
    The bike used to run pretty good ( although with a slight idle issue). I actually rode it 1400 miles from Illinois to where I am at now in Texas. Without a garage it sat outside for 3-months being sandblasted everyday in the hot texas sun. When I finally got a garage I decided to do a semi restoration on it. I disassembled it. I replaced the brake shoes and pads a few months ago. They looked similar to your picture actually. But you bring up a good point about brake hoses and I think stainless braided line looks better anyways. But as far as I can tell the carbs are the last puzzle piece before I can ride again. My helmet sits on the shelf mocking me.
