I have an 81 xj650. It didn't come with turn signals so I figured might try something different. I going for the rigid bobber look, nothing too flashy. Could I use the sportster front turn signals with brackets that would fit my forks or even handle bars?

To make them work properly you need 27W bulbs -

The coolest place for custom turn signals is Bar-End turn signals.
You run the wires thru the handlebars.
Not cool if you're prone to dropping the bike.

REALLY COOL bar-end signals are yellow on the front and red on the back, and blink on both sides, like old BMW's.

Maybe get a marker lens cover and form it to the side of the headlight bucket and put them there. Would take some work but be different.

Or if you decide stock is best I have a set from a parts bike.
