Needs starting fluid to start

    Hello!! I have 82 Yamaha 650 that runs great after I spay it to get it started. I just cleaned and sync carbs just wondering what I should look at now. Thanks for any help!!!

    If it won't start with the fuel enrichment lever and requires starter fluid, Yet when warmed up idles really good, then good chance you did not clear out the enrichment path of one or more bowls
    Watch this and jump to 2:20


    Other reasons could be
    Wet float height not high enough
    You did not let bowls fill up enough when turning on the petcock
    If vacuum petcock, you did not set to prime long enough.
    One or more bad plugs

    Lots of us missed or didn't clean then little jets int he bottom of the bowls when we started wrenching on the XJ's. It is just a live and learn thing. Get back in there and make sure you can pass fluid through the small jet in the bottom of each bowl. Once you can, you should be ready to start the bike much better.

    Update!!!!!!! Took the carburetors back off and found all 4 choke holes were plugged. It starts up without spraying it and runs like a new one. THANK YOU guys for telling me what to look at. Truly appreciated!!!!!
