I found my old battery wasn't keeping a charge anymore. The bike would start, but not spin over very fast. The battery was heading south and couldn't hole a charge over night anymore. So it's timeto get on the phone and check out the local options for prices and what's all available.
I ended up at the local Fleet Farm store to check out what they had. I got lucky!! I asked about the sealed type batteries they had (I know they're pricey) and got a quote of $70+ for a sealed battery for my bike and about $45 for the standard acid battery.
It just happens that someone purchased a sealed battery for their ATV and it didn't fit, so they brought it back to the store. It was the right size and amp rating for my XJ...and the priced was reduced to $57!!!! I guess they had to discount it because it was concidered used (but still new because it was never installed in the ATV. It came fully charged too. So I bought it and got it in the bike as soon as I came home. It fit perfect and spins the engine like never before. Gotta love that. ANd according to the manufacturer, it's not supposed to discharge as fast as a standard battery does. After sitting for a week, it shows 100% on my tester too. My old batteries always showed only 80% or less after sitting a week without riding.
I figure I'll go with the sealed type battery in my othe bike when the time comes (even though they are more expensive) I think they are just alot better than the old acid batteries. Just a thought.

Good find - Is it supposed to last a lot longer too? I'm cheap so I would have to get a longer life to justify the expense ;)
