Couldn't resist, been wanting one of these for a while and one popped up, REALLY close and at a great price.

A 1999 SV650 , US import, we never got the naked 1st Gens,
Just gotta remember the speedo is in mph, not kph :)

Will still be hanging around, need to fix up the baby Max to sell, and can see a SECA as project in the future

nice bikes, i thought real hard on one of them till a sv1000 came along for the right price. there's some good forums for them out there and the 650s seem to be pretty reliable. your going to love the power band but hate setting the valves

YUCK. I looked in the fiche. Buttons under the buckets, which means pulling... the 4 separate camshafts.

On the upside.....the valves clearance checks are every 15k, and they tend to stay in spec for a long time (multiple clearance check intervals).

    True , true,
I'm armed .. have a Factory and Clymer manual.
An SVrider.com is loaded with knowledge , kidnda like here

Polock is right, powerband isgreat, very linear....
    low speed stabilty is crazy....,
Biggest adjustment for me , foot pegs are a bit further back, need to train my feet to go to the new spot :)
And having an actualy friction zone instead of the we spot the baby Max had.

Now I have to prep the baby Max to sell.
gonna be hard, a lot of sentimental value in there.
But can' afford to hang on to 2 bikes at the moment...with a new home to keep her moving
She'd be better off biring ridden
