I just picked up a 1982 XJ750 Maxim about a week ago and am starting to do some work on it. It's been sitting for quite a while and needs just about everything done to it but I enjoy the process of getting an old motorcycle up and running again. My last bike was a 1981 Yamaha XV920RH and before that a 1981 Yamaha XS650 Special. I had an accident with the 920 April of 2011 and sold the bike as is - I was out of commission as far as riding goes for the rest of the year. I'm really looking forward to getting back on the road again - I've already got a lot of information off of this sight that has been helpful in figuring out what I need to do with my Bike to get it road worthy.

Looking forward to getting to know some of you guys here and getting my bike going!

    Welcome!!

Check the rear pads for delamination first, then the tire and front brake line dates and get the valve shims in spec before riding it.

Stick around and everything you could ever need to know is at your disposal.

Click the xj4ever logo in the upper right of the page for any and all parts you may need, and Len will hook you up with great service!!

Thank you for welcomes and advice. I have the carbs tore down and parts soaking in carb cleaner right now. I am planning on rebuilding the brake master cylinder and brake rotors and getting stainless steel brake lines - I want to make darn sure my braking system is in good working order. I'll look into the rear pad delamination possibility - probably just put new pads on anyway as long as I'm doing all the other work.

Smart thinking.you may have others tell you differently but I tried rebuilding 2 masters with no avail. There's a guy on ebay that sells universals that are alost identical for like 40 bucks. Talk to chacal first... aswome guy and has a lot of parts in stock. Let us know how the build goes!!
