    Plugs are DR8ES-L NGK's
Gap is 0.6-0.7 mm OR 0.023-0.028"

Looking good so far, like the idea of painting the engine supports.... may adapt that idea :)

I need to fab up a chainguard to pass my inspection this time :/

I have the factory chainguard, and I probably won't be using it if you're interested. I'll try and find some pics for you by tomorrow, its dark out now :p

Thanks for the plug info btw :nice: I'm really hoping to hear this puppy turn over soon.

Here is the bike as it sits now. I painted the frame red, hardtailed it, removed the uneccessary bits of the frame that detracted from the hardtail look, and put the motor mostly in. I still need the upper bolts for the frame, pick those up sometime this week.

what tank are you using...if the stocker, you removed the framerails that had the rear mount on it gonna need to mod to fit...a cheap solo spring seat will look nice on the hardtail strut

I'm still hunting around for a decent and affordable one, but ideally I'd like a sportster style tank. I also saw a couple tanks from older Indian dirt bikes that might have worked, but I didn't have the cash at the time.

And a springer solo seat is EXACTLY what I have in mind :D

just so you know too, a sporty tank will never fit over that monstrous backbone unless you chop and section it...stupid pressed backbones...ugh.

That is... exactly what I'm trying to do. *drools*

But, It is not apparent to me that I can't use a sporty tank. I've been looking at some two piece tanks from the softail, I could bolt em to either side of the pressed frame somehow, and then put a trim piece in the center to cover the gap. Maybe even hide some of the wiring in there

Do you know what rear fender and handlebars he's using? They look pretty good too.

Also, an update on mine. I got some bolts for the upper mounts, and put the exhaust on today, as well as spraying a quick coat of red over the blackened areas that I had painted just to prevent rust. I'm using some krylon rust tough paint, so no real primer is needed. I used the same stuff on my Mustang and its been holdin up just fine :D

rear fender is generic boat trailer fender and the bars are clubmans turned upside down(which I think is blasphemy...)

    by the way..

Does anyone know the power/torque output of the 400 Maxim? I found a site that said it had about 27 horsepower, but that the seca of the same year had 45..

I always thought the two bikes had the same drivetrain, just that the rest of the bike was set up differently. If the Seca DOES make more power, what were the differences that gave it that extra power? Someday I may want to add those extra few ponies, and if its possible I'd love to know how, assuming of course that the above facts are indeed true...

Anyone got any light to shed on this?

same motor same power...around 40-45 ponies is right...Germany had a restricted model that was limited to 27 for licensing reasons.

    That is exciting news :)

I'll have to remember to take it easy when I start riding then. The only other thing I've ridden was a 250 Nighthawk during the MSF course

still sounds like plenty for a first time rider :p

Also, my friend let me borrow his sportster tank that he has on his project Triumph 500 (not running or even remotely hooked up, so we just took it off and test fit it on my bike

I KIIINNDDD of like the look, but I'm undecided. I don't mind the pressed frame showing so much since mine is red and cool :p but idunno.. Its got a sort of attitude i think, and it looks like it wants to get in a fight with other bikes in the alley. thats cool and all, but im still not sure..

Do you guys think it looks alright?

thats what the general consensus is...

I'd rather see what the two piece tank looks like. installed at a proper level.
That sporty tank is a no-go!
