1st off what a great site an was very impressed by the post quality,,,,,

my name is Dan from toledo ohio,,,,,,,, I have bought a 83 900 seca off of ebay Item number: 270026050271 ,,,,I think it still shows up(does for me),,,

I have search far an wide for info an have just found this site I think we have a winner,,,,,

I'm 50 yrs old an this bike brings back alot of memories ,,,,,I have a touring background on street bikes,,,,,, have offroad background as well (88 suzuki lt500r) still going strong but old age has won the war but I have not surendered yet an will probable die first

I am not a great comunicator and would rather be working on something an the internet is a great place an all but then you have to type to participate,,,, I lurk more than anything but I have broken the silence because I am dedicated to this bike,,,I will try to participate,,, it's not about money,,, but you guys seem to have it going good,,,,Dan

Just outside Detroit myself. Got several in this area, Lansing and Amerstburg Ontario. Been kicking around getting together for a ride or carburetor clinic.

Probably not until the sun gets warm again though. You'll have to join us.

welcome Dan, took a peek at your 83 900 seca on flea-bay, nice bike that beauty is in really great shape for a 83. think you got a good deal there for what you paid for it. now thats what a bike looks like when the owners take care of it. Have fun on the site.

 

I don't have all the gear yet for serious cold weather riding (yet) Carl ,,,thanks for the invite an after I get comfortable with the bike some I will be looking at some rides

Thanks back in black ,,,, the miles scared me some but I truly believe there highway miles now an all concerns are gone she runs to good no smoke or blowby
I joked with my brother that it can't have that many miles on it he had to have bought the speedo off of fleabay so he could pretend to be a rider,,,,,

just joking here the guy was a rider an took very good care of the bike more than he admited to,,, I feel like I adopted one of his kids on this deal,,,,,,nice warm fuzzy feeling about the deal now,,,,nice light sport bike feel instead of the overweight feel I had with the others,,,,,,I have not loaded this bike up yet an don't expect it to be able to be loaded like a true cruiser but I will have to find a compromise Dan

 

Welcome Dan! It's gonna be too cold to work or ride soon anyway, so pull up a cozy chair and spend your winter evenings here with us. I was blown away by the knowledge and dedication to the XJ's when I found this site; I though I was the only one that cared anymore. Wrong!

I think your gonna have some fun with that bike, I sure have enjoyed my XJ700. I'm mostly into bigger road bikes but this bike is so fun.
