Hey, names Jay. New to this forum and finally got myself into bikes after years of older classic cars. Picked up this UK '83 XJ750 couple of weeks back and am looking to use this as my first project. Needs painting and tidying up as the bike runs really well, but the more i look through this sight, the more ideas i get (dangerous i know, but what the hell). Trying to keep the bike pretty simple if i can, any ideas welcome :D

WELCOME from TN!!! Glad it seems to be running nicely. Might want to check your rear brakes for delamination. Also, since you've got those UNGODLY pods  , check your plugs for a lean condition...

Yer i see your point with the love to hate em. Is it it that worth while getting an airbox fitted again? I know it effects top end by running lean but hopefully not going to be an idiot and ride full throttle everywhere! Could also do with a link for wiring diagram as i'll be making up a new loom and need to know what to bypass with a fake signal. (don't worry i know electronics!))

Doing plug chops and checking plugs would tell you how well (or not) it's tuned. Depending on what you plan to leave or keep, as far as electronics, there's a simplified wiring diagram around here somewhere. Try doing a "search" using those key words. Apologize, (computer illiterate LOL) don't know how to hyperlink...
