Someone gave me an '81 650. With the pull back handlebars. No offense to the purists here, but I can't drive a bike with handles like a wheelbarrow. How much of a pain is it the change the handlebars, and do you guys (and girls) have a suggestion for a good cheap place for new ones?
Not trying to offend anyone, it's just my 73 Honda 750 was a lot more comfortable once I got rid of the curved apehangers.

    thx.

Handlebars are cheap and fairly straight forward to change. The expense comes with the new grips, mirrors, instrument cluster, signals, headlight, wiring mods, rebuilt engine, new coils, and custom fairing that follow after a plan to change the handlebars! LOL

Best wishes and good luck finding a set you like!

You left out the custom airbrush paint job with ten ten tone color shifting pearlesent paint with real gold leaf flecs. And 10 coats clearcoat hand polished by virgins using the finest Tibetian yak fleece.

I didn't care for the stock bars on my '82 Maxim 650,so I swapped them out with dirt track style bars from mikesxs. I like the feel and handling of the bike much better now. Do an image search for blu '82,and you can see how they look.

Frankly Micarl, I'm surprised you're still using yak fleece. All the top customisers these days are using alpaca throat hair. Virgin alpacas, of course.
