I also wantet to ask you experts a question, if i remove the orginal fat muffler that lays under the bike, will it cause any problems running the bike??

is there anything else i have to do when removing it?? For exsample re jetting or something??

sorry if i am nor making myself very clear.... my english is not the best ;)

    Best regards

    Welcome to the forum!

Bike looks great. I believe you will have to rejet if you remove the collector box under the bike.

    What wheels are you running?

Did you add rake to the front or drop the rear?

Welcome to the forum. Nice looking ride. Do you have pictures of how you raked the front end?

actually it had already been raked when i got this baby, This bike was mostly modded like 10-12 years ago and when i picked it up it had been sitting outside a garage for a whole frosty salty Icelandic winter :? so it was in very poor shape.

But every day it gets a little better, i Try to do some small work on it every day :p

It is driven every day and rides great now.

The things i plan to change in nearest future are: new handlebars(probably mini ape hangers or z bars), new grips, k&n filters, hopefully a new front rim, mini mirrors and also i want it louder and i mean MUCH louder!!... any recomendetions??

Welcome to the forum Halli, from the sounds of it (pardon the pun) you should talk to Orange-n-Black, he just did this
    http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=37880.html
home made mod for his pipes and seeing as it's the same motor he can maybe give you some base line settings for the jetting.
Bike is looking great, keep the pics and updates coming.

You will need longer cables/brake line. I have 10" apes on mine and had to order custom length. I went to motion pro for my cables and Ebay for a custom length stainless brake line.

Those bars only have 5" of rise.. You may be able to run the stock cables with a bit of rerouting

Looks like the previous owner lowered the top rear spring mounts and put on shorter shocks which is my exact plan for my '80.

I don't suppose you might be willing to snap a few close-up pictures of the frame under the seat and those rear shock mounts? I'm really curious as to how he went about it versus my own plan.
