new member , looking for help

    took me a long time to find a forum for these bikes but here i am . i have a 85 maxim xj 700 aircooled canadian model . it has been stored a long time and i have finally gotten the bug to get it on the road again . first thing it needs is new carbs , the old ones are unusable . i am sure someone here will have some or be able to steer me in the right direction . looking forward to riding it again , it is a beautiful bike . will also be getting the xjcd to helpget things on track . will get some pictures up soon . thanks for all help

    You can rebuild your carbs; "new" are impossible to find. Any used ones you find will need to be rebuilt as well.

    you guys are fast to respond , you are right , i am looking for some used carbs off a running bike , i will then have them rebuilt .my bike guy says mine are shot from sitting [ best part of ten years ] he said two throttle bodies are shot ans some main castings are broken .

    Check fleabay you can usually pick them up there usually starting from $50 and up. DON'T pay more then $100 for unserviced carbs. I picked up mine for $55 dollars on fleabay. Also where are you located??? It helps to include it so that if some other member is in your area they could give you a hand.
