hey everyone, i'm a new member from upstate ny. i'm excited about being here, but also intimidated because i've never used features like IM, or any kind of chat room. I think that i can offer alot to many a new owner, and i'm hoping to get helpful tips/advice from folks as well.

my first street bike was a 1974 cb550 which i bought for $50 from a friend. kept the bike all summer, and had a blast riding, cleaning, and painting the machine. stopped into the local honda shop for something one day and spotted a 1985 xj 700 with 12k. Wasn't really my style of bike i thought, (had a semi-chopper look to me), but it was cleaaaan, and the price seemed very good. i took a test drive and i was hooked. Bike was so quick and smooth. I had to have it. used student loan $ to purchase, which probably wasn't the smartest thing, but i have absolutely no regrets. i have owned and loved this bike for 10 years now, 9 of these, trouble free. have only needed fork seals, speedo drive, clutch cable, and rear brakes.

there are so many more riders today than ever before, (especially young riders), with new machines that cost 7-8x as much as my maxim. somedays i get a little jealous, wishing i was in a position to own a new bike. but, i have never felt ashamed of my yammy, even when a brand new machine rolls up next to mine at the light. after 10 years, i can honestly say that i sit and look at my bike and have the same love and admiration now, as i did when i first got it. that says alot for a 23-year-old machine.

okay, 'nuff with my ramblin' i'll see you in the forums when i figure them out. thanks a bunch and be safe!!!

    Another hello from Upstate NY.

Are you in cow country or one of the dwindling number of city dwellers?

    Hey Mark!
I'm in scotia so not far off.
Definetly put your bike info in the sig.
Go to the my account option, then select my profile info from the list on the left.
There you can change sig, Email, stuff like that.
I'm laid up right now but in a month, I'll drop you a line and we could take a ride.
    Cheers!
