alright I picked this up locally off the Internet. It doesnt have a title, but I'm going to see about getting one or a custom one, i'll worry about that later, since I have another XJ, i'll just swap plates, lol. Anyways. I was told it was a 1982 XJ750. However, The more I look at it, the more I have doubts about what it is. It is single front disk, it does not have YICS on it anywhere. so im confused.... It wont start, it turns but wont, go, so I know im going to the church of clean on the carbs and im sure it will run. I'm pretty stoked, cuz its a very clean bike... id just like to know what it is exactly

XJ650 Maxim. Obviously a Maxim, obviously 650...........side cover shape, shaft-drive, single brake rotor.

Only question remaining is the year. 80/81 Pre- YICS, as Fitz said, so check the VIN.

Is it just me or does it look like someone jammed a cherry bomb glasspack in the end of those pipes?

I believe they are identical. Chacal stocks aftermarket replacement Dyna coils if you need some (did mine when one failed -- what a difference!) or you could ask him to see if he's still got some OEM laying around.

Just checked in my database, the coils of an '80 to '83 Maxim 650 and an '82 Maxim 750 have the same parts numbers. For the '83 Maxim 750, the very last digit out of ten is different, not sure if it makes any difference though.

If they left the inner core and some of the glass wadding - the cut-down cherry bombs would work.

    BTW - Seca 650 & 750 coils will also work. Avoid 700's & 550's.
