Hi all. I'm new to the site and to the XJ. I have a '81 XS650 that I have built myself and am getting a XJ soon. I look forward to learning all about the XJ and really like the site. I'm usually on XS650.com.

My first question is, can anyone point me to a good carb thread? I am a carb junky and rebuild BS38/34 and the VM series. So, I figured I would get a little info rolling in my head with the XJ carbs.
    Thanks so much all.

Thanks a bunch. I'm quite proficient in the BS38/34's, but am new to the XJ carbs.

Depends on your flavor of XJ. The 550s, 600, 700, 900 and "X" models as well as the 650 Turbo, have Mikunis as well.

The normally-aspirated 650s and most all of the 750s have Hitachis which is what you'll now be dealing with.

mechanically, not a WHOLE lot different.

Personally, I feel the Mikunis are a more "precision" instrument.
