Whats up. Been watching this site for awhile now and thought I'd sign up as I am going to be selling my Maxim soon. Figured I would see if someone that knows about these bikes would be interested. But for now I'm riding it every chance I get...even when it's 30 degrees out after work! Picked up my 83 midnight maxim about 4 years ago. Since then I've put about 20k miles on it bring it up to 42k total and put a lot of upgraded parts into it, lot of OEM parts to keep it looking and running awesome. So here I am, new to the site but diffidently not the XJ world! Heres a pic of the black beaut.

Pretty and well kept Edge, you've done justice to the machine. I hope your rekindled interest in your bike has put the sale on hold. Want to fill us in on the updates? Looks like some taller bars and some newer mirrors.
    Welcome to the fold.

SS brake lines, Rebuilt carbs, rebuilt calipers, fork seals, k&n filter, new OEM seat, mirrors (still have the stock ones), newer pads/shoes, rebuilt master cylinder, new intake manifolds, new petcock, fuse block...thats bout all I can think of off the top of my head. These were all done out of improvement rather then repair minus the fork seals and petcock. Few long Iowa winters in there. Bars are stock as far as I know (black chrome) just adjusted forward a little as I am a big guy. As for the sale, I'm finally out of college and making some money, time for something new next spring...looking at a honda 919 or triumph tiger. Still gonna keep it old school by going naked!
