Hey guys, whats up? Just registered on the forum a couple days ago, this is my first XJ as well as my first bike, and I must say, thank god for this forum. I've had so much help from members on this forum already. Definitely wouldn't have been able to get as far as I have with my limited experience. I've always been around cars but never bikes and I'm falling in love!! Haha, but on a serious note, I have some plans for my 82 Seca 750, and my personal deadline is by September so I can make it to the 911 run in NYC. I originally decided to strip it down because I was having motor problems, but once i got the tank off I was like hey, lets take the seat off too. Now, I'm fully engaged in making this my project. I have really high hopes and have gotten a lot of inspiration from my fellow XJ owners right here!! So thanks guys, and if anyone got some useful info, like handy tools or cool idea just shoot em at me. Here's the link for my project thread, photos hosted by photo bucket so don't overlook the link

Have so much work to do, but was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a fabled, "how to" for valve clearance measurement. Basically the proper procedure to check the clearances for the valves.

Just where exactly is the clearance supposed to be measured from and where can i find the shim size to number chart? And Where oh where are the actual factory clearances listed?

    I just need direction.

Welcome man. Make sure you check your brakes. Pretty new here as well. Been around for about a month. Welcome aboard. They're great bikes.
