Hi to everyone. I'm David and I live in Peterborough Ontario Canada. I was looking for a bike big enough to carry me (load capacity) and have space to take my wife riding. I saw an ad on Kijiji for an XJ1100. I knew nothing about these bikes so I found this site using a Google search for "Yamaha XJ1100".

The info available on this site gave me the confidence to pursue the purchase of a 1982 XJ1100 with 47,582 kms on it. I paid $1700 plus $260 for a complete brake job (rebuild the three calipers, new pads all around and flush and replace fluid front and back) and the safety. The bike has new tires, new battery, new paint and a recovered seat. The PO owned it for seventeen years and it was well maintained.

I have it plated but it is not insured so I won't be enjoying riding it until next year.

    David

    Welcome, David!

I have the older sister to the XJ1100, my XS1100SG Special.

SWMBO and I did a tour up through Arkansas, on the Talimena trail, and the XS did fine with both of us onboard, and 22 lbs. of stuff!

We covered 1580 miles in 5 days and she did greatly! The seat was kinda tight, but having SWMBO so close was really kinda nice. ;o)
