Hey guys maybe you can help me with an issue here. I just did my first Carb strip down on my 1982 XJ650 J (YCIS model) and it was a mess but I took my time and I think I did a pretty good job. I used the Haynes catalog. I cleaned the Air filter with a K&N recharge kit and cleaned up the spark plugs. I put it all back together and it started on its first turn. However now its reving super high and I am not sure what I have to do to slow down the idle. I know I have to sync the carbs and from what I have read its one of those things I should take to the shop to get done but im just wondering if I can slow the idle a bit to get it to the shop without doing any damage.

This is the first bike I have wrenched so im learning as I go!!
Any suggestions would would be a great help. Thanx

there is a thumb screw at the back of the carbs in the centre, turn it counter clockwise, check the throttle cable has a little bit of slack when fully closed, if this doesn't work the butterflys are holding open.
