Newbie just bought a Maxim 650, trying to identify

    I just got a 1981 Yamaha 650 Maxim. The VIN is JYA4H7007BA114640
    Is this an xj model? I don't know much about Maxims, but have owned several other Yamaha's. I like the feel of this bike and will post a pic of it in the next few days.

    Looks like an XJ650H - 1981 - USA model - frame number starting at 4H7-100101

    Well that VIN# was off of teh sticker on the front of the frame. On the other side another VIN is stamped, 4H7114640
    This other number is the VIN that is listed on the title.

    Yup - Nick got it right - you've got a US model 81 XJ650 Maxim - just like you said in the first post :wink:
