    Hi all,
Am newly registered to this site, but have been lurking for at least two months now.

You all seem very friendly (like most bikers I now), and very helpful.

I have a 1992 XJ 900 F, which has been very faithful for the last five years, and has been a joy to ride.

I also have a new toy, acquired in May 2006, a non running 1982 XJ 750D (originally Fuel Injected, but carbed when I got it!!) and is my latest project to get back on the road.

I have been impressed with the level of help and expertise that exists here and hope to be able to contribute.

    Ade

An XJ 750 D!!! You will be the envy of Dave Jackson. He is the only other person I know who has one. His is still fuel injected. I was going to give you his link but I just went there and was shut out by flash macromedia ads. yuck! He is on the XJ list however.

Welcome to the fun house. Pity your injection system is gone, I'm a nut for injection systems. No matter, you ride an XJ and wish to fix them up, good enough for me. I'm rather put out that the 900 didn't catch on as much here in the states, I'd like to pinch the motor out of one and transplant it into my Seca. Glad to have you aboard, good luck on your new project!

    Thanks for the replies.
    Glad to be here.

Didn't realise the 900 was uncommon in the states, there are loads here - along with XJ600's. See 4 or 5 a day. Even more if you count Diversions (600 and 900).

They have a reputation here of good, solid, (almost) unbreakable engines.

I've rarely seen a 650/700 or 750 XJ, and fuel injection is also extremely rare for 80's bikes - On the plus side, its a unique bike here, so less likely to get nicked as very distinctive.

So, is the picture in your avatar of the 750 D? Looks like the fairings we got on the Seca Turbo's over here. Very cool stuff!! :D

    Yes mate,
the avatar is the 750D when I picked it up.

As far as I can tell - this is a 750 engine in the 650 turbo frame and fairing, one piece covers tank and sides.
Mind you, it hasn't looked as good as the picture for a few weeks now.
I'm having fun with this one - bike shop mechs start to run away when I go in now - they got manuals for xj seca/max/divi which are getting regular use now!!
