Looking through all of the home made manometer ideas it seems one problem is the possibility of the liquid getting into the engine. I saw one idea sort of similar to this one. Was wondering what you guys think. This is what I am making now. The idea is that the bottles are filled a little less than half way. There is one tube that gos to the bottom of each, then one tube only on the top that goes to the carbs. A difference in vacuum will cause liquid to move from one bottle to the other. Because the liquid can never reach the tubes that are going to the carbs, there is no risk of liquid going to the engine. What do you guys think would be the best for the liquid? It seems water would give the quickest, most accurate results

I used automatic transmission fluid in mine, but I just made a big loop with clear vinyl tubing. ATF is red and can be seen better and I wasn't real worried about it getting in the engine. I just kept a close eye on it and if I thought it was getting to close to one side I shut the bike off.

coffeyrt - you made what's called the "baby bottle" system. Two bottles, stoppers, some tube. Water works, as nothing is sucked into the motor, and, you don't even need to make the "RickCoMatic" baffles.

The only downside is the "slow reflexes" of the system will never give you the dead accurate readout of a 4 water tube system, where you can look at the final results of your work, as represented as 4 water columns dancing within 2 inches of each other.

Worth all the effort of building one.

I used this style with trans fluid in it. I got a little fluid in the motor getting on the "map" but this is more sensitive than mercury types.
It wored fine and is nice to have all four tubes next to each other for a quick visual reference.

A MAN-ometer is a gauge whereby women monitor the performance of a man. One example of such a gauge is the honey do list. The are others of course...

I made the same one as Maz43's picture. It worked great for me!

I just bought the Carbtune one from Chacal. Nice looking and has a carry case. The whole thing will fit in a toolbox.

A "comparative" vacuum gauging system; you use it to vacuum sync your carbs.

This is a good post because it represents two of the most popular DIY methods, with pics.

Personally, I too have a Morgan CarbTune Pro and I love it.
