I have a Xj650 Maxim, Which i just finished getting the engine back together after a case split. Everything seems to be working great. Except for 5th gear. I have no trouble getting into first, and 2-4 are easy and smooth shifts. But when I try to go to into 5th, it feels like it engages for a second, then kicks out and the bike revs freely. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you.

P.S. I've reopened the shifter cover, and it looks like every part is present, and installed correctly according to the Hayes manual I have.

I hope that's not the case, otherwise I'm probably just gonna deal with it being this way, no way am i splitting it again.
