    Hi
I have a problem on my XJ1100. The bike has been siting for a few years and I just got it going again after fixing two bent valves and installing new rings. Anyway The blinkers do not work but the hazard does work so the bulbs are good. Where is the flasher located? Where is the blinker canceler located? I can't remember. Any suggestions where to start and what to check would be good.

    Thanks

Idk if the flashers on the 1100 are similar to the 650. If so, the running lights on the 650 have a separate (blue wire) power supply. You'll need a multimeter to follow power from the fuse box to and through the relay (brown box under seat as 550 stated) then to and through the bucket to the control switch. Hope this helps.

I found the blinker relay and replaced it. I now have blinkers but I have to hold the switch or they just shut off.
Anyone know what causes this? Its not always easy to hold the blinker on. :D

Clean the switch. See if it helps.

Not sure on the XJ1100 as electrically it has several more parts. However, assuming it is similar to the 650, 750 you can try unplugging the self cancelling assembly and the turn signals should still function with the exception of no longer having the self cancelling feature.

Normally, the self cancelling unit provides a signal to disable the flasher relay at power up or after counting a predetermined number of pulses from the reed switch in the speedometer. When you push the turn signal switch left or right, the momentary contacts in the turn signal switch preset the self cancelling assembly, which then enables the flasher relay.

I disconnected the canceler and it will stay on now. That will work fine for me. Thanks
