It seems like I'm not getting any charge to my battery when running. At an idle, my turn signals are very weak. Almost home last night and I died at a stoplight. No power to turn the starter and push starting would not work either.

Do I need to change the whole alternator or just brushes? Will I need to change the stator too? Haven't had time to troubleshoot or even read my manual. Just hoping to get some input. Thanks in advance for any help.

if i remember correctly the alternator/stator doesnt start charging till 2000RPM so anything below that you are running off your battery. first thing i would do is check fluid levels in battery, than check specific gravity of the fluid in each cell. if the fluid is good and the acidity is good than start thinking about your stator. start the bike up and put a multimeter/voltmeter on the battery at idle you should get about 12.4vdc than at 2500rpm you should be getting about 13.8-14.5vdc. if not you have a problem.

Batteries can start to go bad at 2 years. +1 on battery service.
Stator brush length is 11 MM or more
The battery ground, where it bolts to the motor can have corrosion.
Glass fuses?? touch-up the clips with an emery board.

The fact that you couldn't bump-start your bike points to the battery as the main suspect.

How old is your battery? if more than 4 year old, probably best to start with a new battery.

once you pull the alternator cover the brushes have wear marks approx 11mm long if close or not visible then should be able to change brushes only.

I would check and replace brushes if required and battery before troubleshooting regulator, although pull the multi plugs and check that all connections are clean and sound not melting anything.
