Does anyone have a picture of the proper layout of the petcock on the 1982 XJ650 Seca? I can't get fuel through it in the "reserve" position. Works ok in all the other postitions. Thanks in advance for any help.

You first Test the Vacuum Valve.
Hook-up a length of Hose to the Vacuum Port on the Petcock and take a Vacuum on the Hose.
(Just placing the Hose to your lips and drawing a slight Vacuum will do.)
If the Fuel Flows in On when there is a Vacuum and Fails to flow otherwise ... Open the Face of the Petcock and see that the Wafer is in the proper placement.

Which part are you calling the "wafer"? Do you mean the rubber or neoprene piece with 4 holes in it?

    That's it.
The Rubber Disc with the holes in it.
