So I have been reading up on the XJ original fuse box issue and thought to myself that i should take a look at what is on my bike for a fuse box.

I lifted up the seat, searched and searched and found that my bike does NOT have a fuse box.

is there anywhere else that i should be looking or did the PO just rewire everything to run fuseless? is that even possible? Is it going to cause problems down the road?

I believe you can run fuse less. The whole point of fuses is to protect certain components from getting to much power and blowing up they pop and it cuts the circuit if an overload occurs. He may have done that or he rewired and put it someplace you're just not looking.

Fuse less is not a good idea. Your bike could go up in smoke if something were to short out. Hope the fuse box just got moved and you have not found it yet.

The Fuse is Insurance and Protection.

Without a Fuse to protect a Circuit; if the Circuit is shorted to Ground the Fuse will blow and the situation can be rectified, repaired or attended too ... later.

    No Fuse.
Meltdowns and possible FIRE from wiring insulation igniting and burning.
A Fire close to the Gas Tank might turn into a situation where Choppers get called-in to drain swimming pools in your neighborhood to keep your neighbors homes from burning down.

    Fuses are CHEAP!
It's the actions of Motivated Sellers ... doing something stupid to get a bike running ... that complicates matters for the buyer; down-the-road.

Protect yourself. Put-in a NEW Fuse Panel.

Do you have a manual of any sort? Is it possible the fuse box is there with its cover on and you don't realize that's what it is? Yes, it IS possible that someone rewired the bike to be fuseless, but those kinds of philistines generally leave an obvious clue. How about take a picture of your underseat area and post it?

I had a bike in here recently that was "Fuse-less"

The PO brought together all the Wires and used a Household Electrical Wire Nut to splice the wires together.

A real "Cob-Job" just waiting for a situation to fry a wiring harness.

    noooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

tyler man, from your posts i can tell you are a smart and talented kid, so please dont listen to the punks at school with the big speakers and amps in the trunk with the shiny fuses mounted 3 inches away from the amp!

a fuse is not to protect the component, its to protect the entire circuit from FIRE. if the component is trying to pull more than what the fuse is rated at, the component is more than likely broken.

if a wire can handle 25 amps, you will probably see a 15 amp fuse installed on the circuit, and the components on that circuit probably draw a PEAK of 10 amps, probably more like 5 under regular conditions.

a fuse only protects the circuitry after it, so the big shiny fuse next to the amp is protecting the 6" of wire from the fuse to the amp, meanwhile the 10' of wire from the battery to the trunk is waiting to be pinched in the trunk latch and short out, drawing the 500cca of battery power and lighting the car right up in about 30 seconds.

DO NOT RUN FUSELESS!!!!! do not put a bigger fuse in because the factory specified amperage rating "isnt enough" and keeps blowing. there is a problem, FIX IT!!!

truckers like to use 30 amp self resetting breakers in place of 10 amp fuses, and i have lost track of how many dash fires i have had to clean up after. its really scary, rick said it too.....fire next to your fuel tank, right in front of you NUTS!!!!!

My bike doesn't have a fuse box either... bet ure bike is like mine victa.

There are fuses all over the place... just not in one central location. When I lift my seat, it looks like a bird nest. Have you looked closely at the wires and looked for fuses around the battery?
