My 1986 Maxim XJ700 will sometimes have no power when I turn on the ignition. If I shake the handlebars the power will come on or flicker until I continue shaking the bars until the power stays on. Sometimes the power comes on right away but not enough to start the bike. I can hear the battery clicking like it does in a car when it isn’t getting enough juice. I shake the bars again or a few more times and the bike will start. Any suggestions as to what is the potential cause of this and how to fix it? Thanks for all your help!

Sounds like a worn out ignition switch.

^^^^+1 agree... carfully remove screws and pull control off handle bars. Look at switch check for corrosion if it looks ok clean , next order a new switch xj4ever should be able to hook you up. The other possiblity , how old is your battery? Is it fully serviced with distilled water? Is battery fully charged ?
