So I just bought an aftermarket taillight for my maxim, and after trying different wiring configurations, I believe I figured out the right combination. However, in doing so, I blew a fuse which disabled my neutral light and turn signals. I replaced the fuse and the lights all came back on, but now my tail light does not brighten up when I press on either brake. Any ideas what happened?

Check the brake switch with a multimeter, if that works in resistance mode (0 ohms for a short, infinite ohms for open) then maybe in your wiring adventures, you damaged either another fuse (check them all and replace with like amperage ratings) and if the fuses are ok, check the wiring harnesses where applicable, maybe something melted...

Another place to look is the bulb itself. After all, a bulb certainly acts like a fuse as well!

Always check fuses/bulbs out-of holders (circuit) and use a multimeter in ohms mode. zero or darn close to zero ohms means a good fuse/bulb. A 'continuity buzzer' on the meter, if yours (most do) have it is a nice help.

There may be a wiring diagram on the forum somewhere, search for one.

    Good Luck.
