not new to bikes, just to XJ's explain fuse box issue plz

I'm used to crappy electricals, I ride a Norton--what's up with the fuse box? Other than being an obvious POS (one of the fuse holders in mine was BROKEN when I got it) what is the problem?

 

Best idea is to do a search in the forum using 'fuse box'. There are many write ups with pictures and it should be Job #1 for any XJ rider.

It's old and fails to make good contact with the fuse.
The fuse clips can break and can leave you stranded in the middle of nowhere.
It's old technology, not worth playing with.
Just save some time and trouble by replacing it.

nothing negative meant just thought it a bit humourous after the jet thread (me doing it backwards to how you do it).

BTW, where did you get that fuse box ass'y it looks great?

Definately neater than what have. Now I will have to redo it again lol. I will just add it to the list of things to do this weekend. We could use the make model and where to buy a nice assembly such as that though ;-)

don't worry, if it was me they'd be upside down aswell...

I had to take off the cover for the paperwork holder on the seat to let it close. Besides that it fit perfect.

 

I think that is the one I used:
This is the initial setup, need to clean up some of the wires and connections yet>

 

You can sand the base down a little (not too much though) and it'll fit with the cover on.
