.......well.....sort of. If you check out Collateral Damage, with Schwarzenegger, go to almost the end..... with about 9 minutes left, there's a scene where the guy riding the bike (which may be an R6?) dumps the bike as the hallway is blowing up around him. The bike gets blown into pieces, too. As Schwarzenegger is running frantically, then sliding across the floor to get out of the way, he grabs the metal staircase to swing around underneath. Freezeframe right now.....go slowly, frame by frame. Watch the front of the bike coming at you. When it comes in from the left, and then ends up in front of the stairs, you can clearly see that it is a 3-spoke rim with dual disc brakes. Let the movie play a few seconds more til the front rim falls to the floor from above the field of vision. Freezeframe it and look at the rim. Watch it, too. It's an xj650 (550/750) style rim but has no brake discs on it. I just spotted that today.....

....except it usually takes me about a week to actually watch a whole movie. I only watch a bit at a time. It's just that today was when I was able to watch the final 10 minutes, and had to do a double-take when I saw a maxim rim rolling around on the floor. I did the freezeframe stuff cuz I couldn't believe that I had missed an xj in the movie. turned out to be just that part of one.......more interesting to me was the whole idea of that part being used when it's not even from the bike that was used in the movie to begin with.

...........or did you mean taking the time to even write the description :)

There's this British film from the '30's called "No Limit" or somesuch, it stars an English vaudeville-type personality of the time who, in the movie, wants "to be a TT racer."

There are some great period ('30s) scenes from the Isle of Man TT races, interspersed with "staged" scenes featuring our hero.

At one point an opponent crashes by running off the course and uphill into a thicket of bushes. This is followed by a cascade of unrelated, disassembled motorcycle parts that have been doused with something flammable and set ablaze.

    Sounds similar.

No Limit is a 1935 British comedy film which was released by Associated Talking Pictures. It starred George Formby and Florence Desmond, and it concerned Formby's ambition to win the Isle of Man TT Race, against large odds. He not only succeeds in winning the race, but the girl as well.

Can't find it though so if anyone's got a copy....

I noticed Prince (or the guy formerly known as Prince) is riding a Maxim in the movie Purple Rain. He had pull back handlebars and a faring on it...and it was purple of course.

I didn't see a bike in the beginning of RoboCop (just watched it last night), but I did see one in the middle. It pulls up to the gas station and the rider then attempts to rob the attendant.....shortly before the whole station is blown up. The bike looks to be an xj750rl..... or whatever the bike is that looks like the xj900rk, but the seat cover has the stitching like the 750's had on them. I'll have to take a closer look when I can.

Whatever the case, the rims themselves look like the rims for the xj900rk,xj750r,xz550r.

I don't believe it's the 550, and I will adamantly say it's not (unless quite modified) because:

    1. not the right rims - 550 seca has multiple spokes. The one in the movie has three spokes comprised of two parallel lines with holes in between. XJ900RK- style.

    2. not the right seat - shape is different than the 550 and the upholstery lines are different.

    3. not the right tank. Tank has the shape of the 900rk

    4. not the right guages - gauge pod is the same layout as the 900.

It's dark in the movie, and I can't get a good look at the sides. I will watch it again in a dark room and see if I notice anything.

The only bike that I know of that looks like the xj900rk is what I believe is the rare canadian xj750rl (I think that was the model). That had the same,or virtually same, tank, seat, gauges, and tail cowl as the 900rk with minor style difference. I guess it could also be an xj900 Diversion........

If worse comes to worst, I could do a screen-capture and post it to the list.

I do notice that the fairing seemed sort of different, and in farther looking, am now thinking that it may actually be an FJ600.

    Still chasing............

I just loaded one pic that I was able to capture from the movie.... I brightened it up a bit til it started to get grainy. I do believe it is the fj600. Though I guess it is possible that it's a Diversion. I am going to jold with the fj idea til someone else can be more definite. The gauge pod looks like the xj900rk, but that was also shared with a couple other yammy's with slight variations.

Go to my gallery and take a look. See what you think it is. If you watch the movie, go to just shy of 50 minutes and watch the bike pull into the gas station. As it comes to a stop you can get a really clear look at the front rim. Definitely one of ours.

    Bringing this topic back.

Was poking around the Video section on www.fark.com, where I saw a link to somebody's idea of the 20 best kung fu fights on film. I watch a few of them, and I'm partway through #6, which is "Police Story", from 1985, with Jackie Chan. One of the bad guys gets on a bike... wait a minute, that headlight cowling looks familiar...

I could be wrong, but after doing a GIS and picture comparison, it definitely looks like a 900. Body styling matches, wheels look right.

    Anyone?

    Maybe you are all correct.
Ever think that the way they destroy vehicles in movies that the bikes are actually "BITSAS". You know, bitsa this, bitsa that, just so that they can blow them up again, but they look like a complete bike for the shot.
Blow em up, salvage what you can and blow 'em up again.
Plus with car manufacturers, they get a plug in the movie if they supply the vehicle, maybe the bike manufacturers are not so giving due to smaller volume of sales.
    2 cents.
