hi all, new useless body from Maine checking in. i rode a 1985 xj700 maxim-x until i turned it into a giant paperweight. currently trying to figure out the jetting/tuning/ other nuances of running k&n pod filters. first foray into the world of carburetors. if anyone has any tips/insight/stern warnings, any input is greatly appreciated.

If you are new to the carb world then find a airbox and install it. Pods can be done but it is much easier to tune having the stock setup.

glad to hear the results. most people wouldn't bother responding how the problem(s) is/are solved, especially with pods. I (along with many others who do NOT want to hassle with pods) always get the impression that those struggling with pods just give up and let the bike sit. I hope I'm wrong about that belief...

btw, if your avatar location is correct you've made a big change in location (maine to california...) just curious, haha!

As has been pointed out, mods are possible but it's best to get it perfect from stock (with tech upgrades like SS brake lines, blade fuses, etc) then work one new trick at a time. Then you can chop it to be a bobber and earn the ire from most everyone here, especially me! ^_^
