Was watching Matt's Offroad on youtube and he's working on an old carbureted Corvair. He installed an o2 sensor at the exhaust header (post turbo) and ran that to a small Air/Fuel Ratio gauge for realtime AFR data while driving.

I've used the color-tune plugs in the past, and those are cool because theyre removable and no welding required, etc.. However the color tune plugs can only be run while the bike is parked, and the color tuning method is slightly subjective with no numerical data, just colors, which some people can interpret differently.

Just wondering if anyone has tried this O2 sensor trick on their bike.. My XS850 is running so well right now I probably wont bother.. Still a new trick I hadn't thought of & seems like a great idea.

Here's the video.. the O2 sensor clip starts at about 23:40 - 26:10.

I have thought about this - I have enough junky old header pipes laying around that I would like to get some O2 sensor bungs welded in and see what happens. Haven't done it yet, but would be interesting to FAFO.

    +1 on that part.

After staring at mine I think I lose the ability to judge between blue and kinda blue.

And. I really like the idea of fuel injection. Sensors and all.
    Poxy carbies.

In saying that the colour tune is pretty great.

    Grumble...

I've been running an O2 sensor with a 14.7 wideband display unit for years, on my GS850.
It's been interesting and highly informative.

They use a fair bit of heater current, any problems you've seen?

    temporarily installed on my Turbo.
Getting good info prior to installation of my 772 big bore kit.
Very important to keep a turbo running rich

None at all, fed through a 10A fuse, iirc.
Given the charging system on the GS is marginal at best, it's never been an issue.
The controller will only put the heater on when it's needed, as far as I know.
