Oil change

    82 SECA 650

    Above my oil fill hole it says 2500cm3.

    Haynes manual says…

    2.65L for a XJ650-11N (UK) and XJ650 RJ
    2.35L for all other XJ650 models
    2.5L all XJ750

    my VIN is
    JYA5V200 7 CA003653

    Which I thought means it’s a XJ650RJ

    Is that 2500cm3 saying it’s a 750 engine?

    It's essentially the same casing on all the motors, just the nominal oil capacity.
    The 2.65 listed above I assume is the extra volume to fill the oil cooler.
    I'm not clear why the non-oil cooler equipped 650 should be any different than the 750.
    Fill until you see the oil in the window, personally I stop filling when it just reaches the maximum line,
    then you know you haven't over-filled it. Run the motor a few times to verify the level.

    My 1980 XJ650 4K0 (UK) with an oil cooler takes 3.0L to the max level after an oil & filter change, inc. removing the middle gear drain plug.

    2500 cm3 (CC) 2.5l
    that number gives you an idea on oil needed.
    bike on center stand bike level on gas pad as long as you see an air bubble above the center ling on the site your good there are lines on the glass.
