    Hello,

My oil light gauge goes on even though the oil level in the oil window is full. When my bike isn't running and the bike is on the maintenance stand the oil fills up the window completely. When I have it running idle it fills up half the window and then when I rev it a little it fills up the window (also on maintenance stand while doing this).

Given that the oil is always full, is this something to worry about? I don't really care that the light is on and I don't want to put in a bunch of work to fix it. I did change the oil myself for the first time last fall (had professionals do it before- oil has been changed regularly), could I have accidentally bumped a sensor? There have been no oil leaks at all since I changed the oil.

    Thank you,
    -Wade

If your level is to just at the top of the window, don't worry about it....you have a full fill.....as for the oil sensor light...either a bad sensor or bad connection on the wiring in the headlight bucket, or LCD display or at the end of the sensor wiring.......if you don't mind the light on, don't worry about it

Your thread title doesn't specify which Maxim (they come in many flavors) nor is it in your sig; but in this case it really doesn't matter.

The oil level sensor is a simple float-activated switch located on the bottom of the motor, no matter which bike you have.

Your issue is likely due to a simple loose or pinched wire. It would be worth tracking down (or at least isolating.) Then if it turns out to be the actual switch, you can cross it off the list.
