I know I saw a thread before about oil getting into the airbox. It happenned to me yesterday. I have ridden the bike for about 6 weeks without a problem. I parked it a week ago due to ohio weather. Yesterday I rode it about 1/2 mile to work, and when i parked, oil was leaking out of the airbox. There was a puddle 1' in diameter under the bike. I took it for a ride after work trying to see if it would do it again, but it hasn't yet. Did something give on the bike? Rings, valves etc.? What do you guys think?

If all else is stock, the crankcase vents to the air box, just follow the hose from the left side of the crankcase near the transmission. The oil level may have been high or some sort of restriction in the oil drain back holes between the transmission and crankcase like clutch materiel could have caused the oil to back up. If this is the case an oil change may remedy the situation. The other possibility is that excessive blow by from excessive cylinder pressure (possible over lean) or worn rings could be the culprit. Mine did the same thing and the problem was all of the above except the rings are OK. A compression test should reveal the condition of the rings and valves the rest is merely maintenance.

Check to see that the Petcock isn't leaking causing Fuel to overflow into the Crankcase; overfilling the Crankcase and contaminating your Oil.
    Petcock leak-by's are common.
An overfilled Crankcase is going to have Oil get drawn through the Baffle in the Shift Cover and get deposited in the Airbox.

Knowing the Sump isn't getting gas leaked into it and that the Oil Level is correct needs to be followed-up by a Compression Test.

See what the Condition of the Cylinders is at the moment.
But, if you had a situation where gases were blowing by Piston Rings, ... it would be accompanied by oil Consumption.

    Test the Petcock.
Rebuilding it with a Non-OEM Kit might have it still leak.
You can put a "Shut-off" Valve inline very cheaply and it stops gas from overflowing into the Carbs for around 12-Bucks..
