I was out for a ride today on my 1981 650 maxim when the oil light suddenly came on. I immediately turned the engine off and checked the oil level which was where it should be. I started it up again and the light was off. I rode for about ten miles and the light came on again when I reached about 5000 R.P.M. I pulled over and at idle the light was still on. I turned the engine off and restarted it up again and the light was off. This problem repeated itself every time I would reach about 5000 R.P.M. Any ideas on what the problem is?

    Yep.

The Oil Level Sensor is getting Hypersensitive ...
    It's not a bad thing.

You can see if adding ...
"Just a little-bit" more oil helps.

Put the Bike on the Center Stand.
    Look at the Oil Window.
Add Oil until the Level in the Window is close to being Full.
    Leave a Tiny Bubble ... ( warmed-up ).

If you are using a Synthetic Oil, ... the Product is slow to scavenge.
