    It's an oil level sensor.

not sure about the oil sensor, but the others seem to go south over time :(

does it stay on all the time ?

    mine comes on during brake/cornering.

I've not heard of them dying too terribly often. Have you topped up all the way on oil or is it exactly at the bottom line? If your a bit low, could be that the sump baffel isn't doing it's job very well and toping off will fix the issue. Have you changed your oil recently? Goo from sitting the winter season may have worked it's way into the internals. Easy to clean on your next oil change. I await your reply.

With Robert on this one. Might be time for an oil change. The sensor is simply a float going up or down and when it gets down it completes the circuit to illuminate the light. May have just got stuck down. I'd drop the oil and remove the sensor for a good clean. Also check the wiring for abrasion as it may simply be a short in the cable. The wire goes a long way unsheathed before it gets into the wiring loom.

been babying the bike for the past month and started running her pretty hard lately.Changed the oil 3 times in 3 months to flush the crap out of it.(been sitting for at least 5 years).Take very good care of it otherwise.Glad to know the light is off oil level instead of oil pressure.Thanx guys.BTW,talked to previous owner and he said that it happened to him before when redlining and the next day it was fine.

I guess i should also not that I have also had a problem with clutch slippage, not bad but noticable. She only has 9500 miles on her,but 25 years old,is it time for new clutches? What I am saying is<could it be debris from the clutches?

If your having this issue with your oil light and you mentioned clutch slippage, you may need to think about increasing the viscous weight of your oil.

maybe a little sea foam threw the crank case, a cleaning probably wouldn't hurt.
