Hi everyone, today Dr Bob has one serious cool mod to show you..

Oil pressure gauge setup on a XJ bike.

Throw the right side bung in your toolbox during the next oil change.

Some people suggested to tap into the oil gallery bung under the
    crank,
It is too thin to accept a fitting..

I went and found a M20 fitting from a tractor hydraulics
and machined the small threaded side down.

I found a BNP fitting to silver solder onto the new M20 bung
to accept the hard line from the gauge.

If you look at your standard bung, you will see the sealing
O-ring is recessed into the alloy to give it a proper seat,
i have re-created it in the new bung, it is the hardest
part of the job after leak testing.

To use an O ring to seal the new bung, i had to solder a ring of
copper onto the bolt which will stop the O-ring from
squashing out, and to align the oil fitting to the right
spot for the gauge line when the bung is tightened down.

Shortened the gauge oil line and shaped to fit the XJ750.
These oil gauges can be found on eBay.

Fired it up, 15psi at idle, 55psi @ 3000rpm no leaks.

I don't think it sits out too far, and engine guards will protect it anywho..

My bike again, front wheel on now and off the stand, yehaaaa...

For those that can't make the fitting themselves, i can supply you with the fitting made up for the line for around $100 or the whole kit
for $200 Aust dollars... ready to fit and post paid

*Subject to available parts, 50% deposit, 4 week min turnaround.

I hope you all like... free to copy this design...

Can you have a quick peek at it whilst riding, ... or does it require an acrobatic maneuver?

For some people these days just looking at their toes is an acrobatic maneuver. A quick glance down at the engine case is all that's needed.

But like any new toy, don't stare at it too long while riding in the interests of public safety.

I'm curious as to why you didn't use some hosing and feed this up to the bars.. I like the idea, but it's in the wrong spot to be useful..
