Oil weight

    Curious to see what everyone is running for oil in their XJ’s. I have an 82 550 maxim and I’ve normally ran a synthetic blend 10-40. I’ve heard 20-50 is good to use on those engines as well.

    Castrol sae 20w-50 /4T. It is API SG. Jaso ma- 2. I find it does a good job.

    It doesn’t matter what weight of oil other people use. All that matters is that the weight you use covers the ambient temperature range that you are riding in.

    If your engine is burning oil, that’s another matter.

    ^ and 20-50 is fine, especially since 20-40 is not common to see on shelves anymore^

    15-40 is good too.
