I am in process of changing my fork seals. I have them apart now but the old oil is gray and I don't want to put new oil without cleaning all of that out. What can I use to clean out all the old oil and gunk. I was thinking on use thinner or some thin then flush with oil. Then putting in to new oil.

    What do you guys think?

I just changed my old oil - don't think it was ever changed lol. It came out grayish/black, looked like there was water in there too.

I just let all the oil drain out of the drain screws, and then poured in my new oil.

It you want it to be super clean I guess you could tape a rag around a broom pole, the shove that into the top of the fork, like a gun barrel cleaner...

Funny, I maybe got 1 cup of old oil that came out both forks yet the manual calls for 1.2 cups of oil in each fork!

Btw, I put in Mobil 10w 30 car oil and they are really nice and hard now, not squishy like they used to be.

When I did mine, I had some mineral spirits sitting here, so I used that.

I always use a little petrol to clean them out then leave it a few days after draining then refill with new oil

Mineral spirits, MEK (evil stuff), carb cleaner, brake cleaner, the list is endless (yes, even water but that would be just asking for trouble). Just be careful to wash everything clean. Using a rag is fine for general cleaning but it will leave lint behind and that stuff clogs ports. Be certain your final cleaning is a rinse to wash any debris out.
    Annnddd.... Recycle your old oil!
Do not get the cleaning solvent into the oil, it will contaminate it and render it useless.
