Has anybody noticed a difference in fuel quality in NC? I used to live in MD and everything was fine. I could leave fuel in my car for over a year and it would still be fine and smell ok. I moved to NC and I cant even leave my XJ650 a month and it runs horribly and the exhaust and gas itself stinks of bad fuel. I wonder if there is enough people if there is legal action to be taken. I am in the mountains and I guess they just think that people visiting will just think its the hills and the people that live there well they are just too stupid to realize that something is wrong because they dont know any better. Anyways let me know if you have any experience with this situation.
    Thanks

I believe it is the proliferation of ethanol in all gasoline now. a few years ago I could find 'real' gasoline but not anymore. You can't put that crap in an airplane (for those aircraft with an auto-fuel STC) good way to screw up the fuel system.

I hate the stuff, I notice that I get poor fuel economy in my 4.0 liter Ranger with that stuff than I used to get with real gasoline. Oh well, we're gonna 'save' [ruin] the planet so lets keep on doing something that doesn't work or isn't economically viable anyway because nancy Pelosi wants to.

shooot, i have a snowblower that won't run on anything but yellow gas!
i just sniffed my gascan a few days before our last storm, and noticed it was bad, so i poured my old gas into my jeep (would run on kool-aid, i swear) and headed up to the mobil station to snag 5 gals of regulah, and the dang thing wouldn't start!
siphoned that gas out, and used my brothers old gas, and sure enough, started right up halfway through the first pull.
    good ol' tecumseh!

The gas here in MN is just as bad, THe ethanol is basicly achohol and that attracts water. I get such bad MPG on all my cars in the winter. I almost think these guys actually mix water in our fuel to rip us off. I have tryed several different statons and have found that there is two that are worse than the others. I just stay away from those stations. Just as proof that there is something going on. I service my own cars so I replace the fuel filters yearly. My Chevy Surban fuel filter was changed this last fall. I decided to cut it open and see what was inside. To my surprise it was full of black junk. I callled the dealer and asked them aboout it. They said oh thats just the fuel these days doing that. I also asked if they have noticed any fuel related problems with the ethanol fuel. They told me that even the flex fuel cars come back with worn out fuel pumps and bad injectors. They also said that they have seen some come back with worn vavles and valve seats in the heads at 70 k on odometer. Thank God for extended warranty.
I think it would be best to run your bike tank low on fuel drain it and drain your carbs. Get some fogging oil and spray your gas tank and leave the carb drain screws open for the winter or when your not going to use the bike for any extended time.
