Hello Guys. I'm interested to see who's still around from a few years ago. I owned a heavily modded vmax as well as a super nice maxim x. I got married, moved, had a wreck, and sold both bikes.

I'm now working from home and I miss riding/tinkering.

I'm not sure what bike I want to get. I originally thought about going the sport bike route but I think my wife would kill me if I dropped that kind of $$$. I LOVED both my Yamaha's so I figured why not start out like I did the first time. Get something cheaper, fix it up, and go from there.

I'm open to any suggestions of what you guys think I should look for!

Sold both bikes? Because you got married or had a wreck?

No he's married so now he's a wreck!
Just foolin, we all subscribe to the
    "Happy wife happy life club"
And men live longer when married , for some poor slobs that's not a good thing.
If that's you 2 in the picture, good looking couple! So better get a nice saddle for going on evening rides together.

Lots of maxim650's and 750's out there looking for some loving. And tons of spare parts available here from Chacal and eBay and other members.
Have a look at Hot Spots for locations of nearby members for help finding a bike and of course Craigslist !
    Happy hunting.

If "sport" is what you're after, how about a Seca 900RK? They're pretty, fast, and rare, so you get something quite special if you find one. I've heard the 700s are a powerful machine as well, if the "custom cruiser" look is your thing. Check out Hogfiddles' bikes in the showcase for an idea of what I'm talking about.

Neither. You guys knew about my wreck. I posted pics and it was my fault. I went down in like my first 3 months. I got laid off at work and needed cash. Man I lost my a$# on my vmax.

I may try and track one of those down. I don't really like the look of some of the Xj's. I really liked my Maxim X but I want to do something different. Topped her out more times than I can count. Did an 800 mile+ road trip. Really felt like I was one with that bike. But I had some stuff done to it as well. I like the "Cafe" look of some of the smaller yamaha's but I think I may get bored with the power/lack of it.

Hahah that is us! I appreciate it. She doesn't like bikes. Doesn't like riding on the back either. Which is fine with me. Give me some "me" time.

You can always try a 550 seca. For what I have seen you can get a neat cafe looking bike and there is no lack of power on that little bike.

But he's had a Vmax, anything is going to seem slow. Nothing like a Max for doing smoky burnouts eh!
I think Matti's idea of a 900 seca makes sense.

I've actually thought about it. As I like being able to push my machines hard.

Man that Vmax was an animal mine had all kinds of crap done to it. BUT I can honestly say I probably road my maxim X faster. Maybe I should just look for another Maxim X.
