    Hi guys
Sorry to bother you all...But have any of you ever heard like a high frequent noise from the engine like this one?

    http://www.sendspace.com/file/gm5ukd
    (...it's a m4a audio file, about 2Mb, plays well in f.inst VLC)
    (VLC: http://www.videolan.org/vlc/)

It appeared suddenly today....And seems to be coming from around the carb area somewhere (really hard to tell)

I have checked oil level and it seems okay (poured in some extra just to be sure).

    Is this dangerous?
Pleeease tell me it's some non-important fluke.... ;-)
I'm getting tired of fixing her all the time...

I just recently had the valve clearances adjusted (it ticks a bit, but that's okay). I also had a prof. adjust the carbs and other than the sound it runs great (better than ever)....

ha, it sounds like the bird in mad bohemians engine, check some kind of gasket, wheere its loose and drawing in air, making a chirping sound, like grass between ur fingers. btw, thats a really good recording.

    Thanks for the reply.

Searched this "most excellent" forum for "wisdom of the oilstain" and found some references to the exact same symptoms (or thereabouts).....
.....namely some gasket probs on the intake manifolds......

Rather not pull the carbs off now that they are so good synced...any "quick fix" you guys know of.....Want to keep her running to the end of season which is only a month away in these parts :)

you shouldn't have any worries about upsetting the carb sync. Simply pull the rack of carbs, (after you have decided which gasket is the offending one) pull the intake boot , be careful not to break the mounting bolts 8O ! Put on a new gasket w/some form-a-gasket on the intake boot side of the gasket. Put the boot back on, remount the carbs and you're good to go!!

I know it is not funny BUT lmao  when I heard that clip. Sounds like a angry cannery in your air box. But all the same thanks for the heads up on what it could be.
