Getting it right takes trial and error.

Where you start is up 4 on Mains (114)
    up 1 on Pilots (41)

Then read your plugs. Consider making mini velocity stacks between the PODS and Carbs to blend airflow. Also, have your valve adjustment, carb cleaning and sync all sorted first. Search this site for POD threads.

    Don't lose hope.

    Tony,

Don't lose hope. You can always put the box back in and re-jet to stock.

He would also have to have mufflers.
TimetoRide is right, it can be done. There is a post called Pod Success Results(I think) that lists members success on different models and the jets that were used. The airbox boots can be used to make those velocity stacks.
Tuning these carbs with pods are a PITA, but CAN be done.

You should take some time and browse the threads "PODS" related.

Many owners of XJ Bikes have experimented installing Air Pods on these Bikes with with limited success.
I have attempted to help some of those who yanked-out their Airboxes and equipped the engine with Pods with fine tuning many times. I don't think anyone has found a genuine formula to arrive at what you expect as "Fine Tuned" after nearly three decades of trying.

Before you embark on your own expedition toward finding a solution that legions have searched for before you, ... begin from achieving having the Bike fine-tuned unmodified.

Pods and Exhaust mods present you with a "Double-whammy".

The installation of Pods causes a Lean condition to be rectified.
Reduction of Exhaust "Back-pressure" exacerbates the problem.

There's no certified set of instructions to follow packed in the box with the Pods.
The best you get is just a guess at what might work.

After you put them on, ... you're on your own.
