in january i (in the heat of the moment(pre baby crisis)) bought a 07 honda vtx 1300r. I pay about 180 a month for the loan. I have a 82 xj650rj seca also. I have been trying to sell the xj but it doesnt seem to be getting any good bites. I have a friend who recently has been fixing up his yx600 radian and it looks awesome. this has made me interested in fixing up and customizing my xj. should i sell the xj or should i sell the vtx and get out from under the payments? what would you do?

I would get rid of the VTX, high insurance and note that goes with it. Put whatever you get into the XJ. Then you'll have a good bike with low insurance and no note.

    Don't forget the post-baby crisis.

By your sig it looks like you've got most of everything taken care of. If the xj runs tip top, sell the VTX. Put that money in the little one's account.

    That's what I would do.

Very true, and you'll never get out of it what you put into it.

plus the avove is also very right, screw having an extra $200 expense every month as a payment. I'm sure if you sold the xj, the wifey would make you sell the vtx when money gets tight to avoid the payment, and then BAM, you have NO bike! :O

You're not going to be one of those guys that sells his XJ rather than adjust the valves, are you?

    >and then you'll have NO bike....

I'll he'p ya......put the xj on a trailer, bring it over and give it to me. I'll take it off your hands for free. That way you don't have to worry about any expenses on the xj, they'd be all my 'problem' as I turn it into another trophy bike :)

Then put your other bike right up for sale and you're all set.....no bikes at all, and sh won't even have to hint at you to get rid of anything.

Just doing my part to help.....Dave F

better bang for your buck with the XJ - especially on ins cost and at the pump.
