Since a full-face helmet saved my life once already, that is all I will continue to buy and wear. Since here in MI it is legal to have a bike with NO mirrors if you have a helmet mirror, I bought one from these guys http://www.bugeyes.com/ yesterday. I have read nothing but good things on them and my friends that have them rave about 'em too. I will post results and pics once I have it installed and tested.

    Can't wait!
I've never liked the somewhat limited rear visibility of the stock mirrors.

Those Bug Eyes do seem pretty neat. I'm not sure that they are gonna give you more viewing area unless you move your head while looking through them. Especially with only one, may prove to be dangerous.... I hope they do work for you. Please let us have some feed back once you run them a couple few miles.

The only potential problem I can see is that you would have to be looking straight ahead to see straight behind. I rarely look straight ahead, especially in heavy traffic, so I would prefer to have the mirrors mounted on the bike.

Neat idea, but maybe better suited to trail riding or snowmobiling. By all means let us know how they work out.

I solved my problem with the stock mirrors with a set of bar-ends.

My take fwiw is that anything that helps make you aware that "something" is there, regardless whether you can even tell what it is, is good. So thanks for posting, I haven't seen these before.

When I learned how to ride I got into the habit of constantlyturning my head every few seconds to see what was around me in all directions. That works pretty well but occassionally, the squid riding a zillion mph will fly by me unexpectedly which just goes to show that a lot about your surroundings can change in only a matter of a couple of seconds.

Still, these things sure aren't a bad idea as long as you don't rely on them but again, no one I know of bets their life against what they can see in a mirror.

A couple years ago we had a rider killed near my home. The woman who hit him as she came off a entrance ramp onto the main road told police; "he never turned his head, he just expected me to miss him"

Think about that for a moment and think how many times we've all seen "that guy".....then think about the fact that there are people out there that think like that woman did......scary huh?

Being that you and I both live in MD, I'd bet good money SHE blew a YEILD sign at the bottom of the ramp. Doesn't make it better for the rider that died.

I'm pretty sure they don't cover YEILDs on the driver test in MD because if they did there would be no one on the road they'd all be in line at the MVA still to retest.

Cool! I might try those as opposed to getting after-market mirrors. Let us know how you like them and any issues you have with them.
