    Hey everyone!

So come springtime/summer, I will have to store my bike outside while at school. I obviously plan on getting a cover for it, and was wondering if any of you had a suggestion for a decent cover at a reasonable price?

Is there really a quality difference, or are they all the same to a degree?

Is storing it outside under a cover an okay way to store it? I'm not sure what I will do if its not, but if i find out that its the worst thing in the world for it, I suppose I'll try my darndest to try to find another remedy.

As always, thanks for the input guys.

    Chris

Does this look acceptable? Sure can't beat the price -

Depends on the quality of course and how much you end up paying for it.
I bought both of mine at a fleet farm store ($25~ or so/each) that have the windshield cloth protector inside so they don't scratch the windshield when moving around in the breeze. Also, theyhave the exhaust pipe protector on the bottom inside so you can put it on just after you park it with hot pipes.
Other cheap covers will melt to the pipes if you put them on without lettting the pipes cool down first, so you may want to keep that in mind.

You'll pay close to $15.00 just for shipping.

This one, from FORMOSA COVERS, has a waterproof outer shell, a light Felt-like liner and a Heavy-duty draw string.
    Tailored to fit over mirrors.

If you fold it and squeeze ALL the air out ... it will fit into a Helmet Bag or a Fanny Pack.

Bring it to a Shoe-repair Shop when its still new.
Have the Cobbler replace the Bungee Cord Grommets with Sewn-on Leather Slots at the Front and Rear Wheels to pass a Chain through to lock it.

I have these cheapie, thin, one layer covers, but I park in a carport/back porch and the bikes are out of the direct rain.
I put an old cotton TEE shirt over the windshield to protect from scratches.
You will most likely need a better cover.

So thats the cheap one that you have? that is good to know that theyre cheap quality and something to avoid - well in my case being thats the only thing protecting it from the elements.

When I go back home for summer though, i'll hopefully be able to park it in the garage. - well after i sell my riding lawnmower that is, lol.

Last winter (many feet of snow/melt/snow etc...)stored the 750 in a nice cover. I wonder if the cotton liner didn't retain more moisture than an inexpensive, thinner one would have ?
In the end,the problem was the chippies! I'd love to have had a big pot of chippie stew.
Unfortunately,it would have been XJ wire insulation-flavored.
So whichever cover you use,put a mouse trap or three under it.And check them frequently, sometimes they're only half-effective.
