    Hi all,

I'm having trouble determining the paint code for my '82 XJ750RJ Seca (Canadian model). I've looked through the forums trying to find the paint code but I'm having lots of trouble. Can anyone tell me the paint code for this bike? My shorty VIN is 5H2-1003xx. Thanks for any help.

Looks like a 750rj that was repainted to look sort of like a 550rj. If so, then talk to Len for more info on his Color for the ‘81 550rj. It’s not the pearly one, so it “has to be” the other one. I guess it’s possible that it’s the original color, but it sure doesn’t look it from here,-.....

Yeah, I'm inclined to think that it's original because of this picture I found online (attached). However, this is the only picture I can find and browsing through all of the forums I can only find references to the 82 Seca being painted in red or silver. This is definitely a pearly white, and although the pictures does'nt show it well, it does have a "sparkly" tone that I've read about in the pearl white colour. It's also odd that the decals would be in such good condition if it was re-painted...

From here I can’t see the “pearl”. If it’s pearl, LEN has that info, too.

The things that made me think it’s not original are:

    1. from here it looks like the decals are not straight with body lines, etc..... they just look “off” to me

    2. the side cover emblems are not horizontal...parallel to the ground. They are tilted.... like someone didn’t know that the emblems are square to the ground, not square to the side cover.

maybe it’s a custom paint— maybe it was a police version, or something else.

Actually, that is a correct color/stripe scheme for the Canadian 1982 XJ750 Seca models (we even carry the stripe kit for it). Very rare though.

If the color is a peralescent white, then I would think that it is the same color as the 1981 XJ550 Seca, which is the Code Y9 "New Yamaha White". If it's non-pearlescent, then it's probably the same as the 1983 XJ900RK (again, Canada only) which is "Yamaha Silky White"
